The newer neighborhoods off Spout Springs Road
Sterling on the Lake and the subdivisions around it were built with craftsman rooflines. That means steep front gables, short runs of gutter broken up by dormers and porch roofs, and a downspout at nearly every corner. The street trees are still young, so these gutters see more shingle grit than leaves.
The trouble is underground. Builders tie each downspout into thin corrugated pipe and bury it toward the curb or the back slope. Five to fifteen years on, those lines are silted with clay, and the first sign is a gutter spilling over the front door in a thunderstorm.
A cleaning here should include a flush of every buried line, and you should be told which ones did not run clear. What happens next is on the buried drain lines page.
Most of these neighborhoods have an HOA. Changing the gutter color, or adding a guard that shows from the street, usually goes through the architectural review committee first. Check the covenants before anyone orders coil.
Old Town Flowery Branch
Around Main Street and the railroad the houses are older and smaller, a few of them a century old, under oaks that were big before the lake was filled. The gutters are whatever each owner added over the years. Sectional aluminum on one house, half-rounds on the next, bare eaves on a third.
Leaves are the story there, and so is fascia that has been wet for years behind a gutter that never drained. Expect a cleaning in Old Town to turn up some gutter repair.
The lake side, along Gaines Ferry Road
The houses on the water are tall on the downhill side and wrapped in hardwoods and pines down to the Corps line. Their gutters fill fastest and are the hardest to reach. The downspouts on the lake side also need somewhere to discharge that does not cut a gully toward the shore.
The number of levels on the water side decides most of the price and whether one person or two comes out.

Flowery Branch gutter questions
Do I need HOA approval for new gutters in Flowery Branch?
For a like-for-like replacement in the same color, usually not. A color change, copper, or guards that show from the street usually do. The management company can tell you by email, and the installer can supply a color sample.
Why does my gutter overflow at the front door?
Most often it is the short run over the porch draining into one small downspout that feeds a buried line. When the line silts up, that run fills in minutes. Clearing the line fixes it more often than cleaning the gutter does.
Is the price different in Flowery Branch than in Gainesville?
No. The same ranges apply across Hall County. Current price ranges.
